extended BUCHAREST WALKING TOUR featuring the Old Town and Victory avenue presented by an (official) Licensed Tour – Guide 3 hours
The Walking Tour will show historical buildings as :
– The Romanian Atheneum
– The former Royal Palace ( nowadays the National Museum of Art and learn about the history of the Romanian royal family
– The former building of the Central Committee of the Romanian Comunist Party in order to witness the balcony from where on December, 21st 1989 he was trying to calm down the Romanian protesters (they didn’t listen and stormed the building )
– The Memorial of Rebirth that commemorates the struggles and victims of the Romanian Revolution of 1989, which overthrew Communism
– The Cretulescu Church
– The Telephone Palace – the first building with metallic skeleton in Romania
– The Palace of the National Military Circle ( also known as the Officers’ Club )
– Capsa – the first confectionery shop on Calea Victoriei the first to introduce ice cream to the country
– The Art Deco building that once hosted ”Galeries Lafayette” department store , nowadays called Victoria ( constructed by the Jewish architect Herman Clejan )
– C.E.C. ( Savings Bank ) Palace (Palatul C.E.C.)
– The former Postal Services Palace, nowadays the National Museum of Romanian History
We will then move on to the Old Town and have a stroll along the streets of this former merchants quarter. Many merchants of Bucharest were Armenian, Jewish and Greek, who left the city after the communists took over. Now, this whole area is full of street cafees and restaurants :
– The arcade Macca – Villacrosse
– Lipscani street ( the most famous one in the old town )
– Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stavropoleos) of the Angels
– The building of Carul cu Bere restaurant (Restaurantul Carul cu Bere)
– The Stock Exchange Palace
– The Palace of National Bank (Banca Nationala a Romaniei)
– The Dacia Palace
– The buildings which once hosted the famous jewish banks ( BERCOVITZ bank and MARMOROSCH BLANK bank )
– “Carousel (of Light”) Building – built at the beginning of the 20th century by the Chrissoveloni bankers family .
– The Old Royal Court (former residence of Vlad The Impaler and other rulers of Wallachia)
– Saint Antonie Church (the oldest church in Bucharest preserved in the original shape)
– The building of Manuc Inn (Hanul lui Manuc).
On the way back to the hotel you will see :
– The central point of Bucharest ( km.0 )
– Coltea historical Hospital
– The Sutu Palace , hosting the museum of Bucharest history
– The Palace of the Agriculture
– The University of Bucharest from the University Square
– The National theatre
– The Italian Church of the Most Holy Redeemer
UPON REQUEST the tour can be extended in order to include :
– interior visit of the ROMANIAN ATHENEUM ( subject to availability / only on the spot can be found if the musicians do not rehearse so the tourists can enter the concert hall in order to see the 75-sqm long and 3-m wide fresco painted by Costin Petrescu that decorates the inside of the circular wall of the concert hall )

– interior visit of the THE NATIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM of ROMANIA including the permanent exhibitions ( Historical Treasure , Lapidarium and The Copy of Trajan’s Column ) as well as the temporary exhibitions displayed in the central hall.
